We’ve been expecting BMW to expand its SUV lineup even further with the introduction of the X8 and now it looks like it’s coming soon. BMW recently trademarked the X8 M name, which signals that the X8 and the high performance X8 M are almost here.

The trademark filing was posted on X7Forum.com. The X8 is expected to debut at the end of this year and will share its DNA with the family oriented X7. Compared to the X7, the X8 will have more coupe-like styling.

We don’t know much about the X8, but we can expect it to share its powertrains with the X7, while the X8 M will likely get the same 600-hp 4.4-liter V8 as the X6 M, but with more power. Some reports claim that the X8 M will also get a hybrid setup, which could push that horsepower rating to around 700 hp.

When the BMW X8 arrives, likely in 2021 or 2022, it will probably be the most expensive model in the brand’s lineup.
