Yesterday Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed some new updates on the Model 3 on Twitter. The Tesla Model 3 will officially enter production this Friday, two weeks ahead of schedule. Plus the first deliveries of the Model 3 will start on July 28.
Tesla hopes to produce 20,000 Model 3 cars a month by December.
Tesla expects to have the first production version of the Model 3, which Elon Musk refers to as “SN1” or “Serial Number 1,” off the line on Friday. After production officially kicks off, Tesla expects to produce 100 Model 3 cars in August, which will grow to over 1,500 in September. By December of this year, Tesla hopes to be producing 20,000 units a month.

Tesla can’t get production ramped up soon enough, since Tesla currently has around 400,000 pre-orders for the Model 3. In 2018 Tesla hopes to build up to a total 500,000 cars, which will include the Model 3, Model S and Model X.
We have yet to see the production version of the Model 3, but that should be very soon. Tesla is still aiming for a starting price below $35,000 for the Model 3, which will give it a rival to the Chevy Bolt. The Model 3 will have a 60 kWh battery that will give it a driving range around 215 miles, but the only downside is that Model 3 owners will have to pay to use Tesla’s Supercharger network.
