It’s been rumored that Tesla has some updates coming for the Tesla Roadster and now Elon Musk has announced on his Twitter account that an announcement is coming this week.
Earlier this year it was reported that the Tesla Roadster is soon going to get an update, but a time frame wasn’t announced. In Musk’s tweet last week he said, “Roadster update details coming next week. Several crisis issues w higher priority pushed this out longer than expected.”

Tesla hasn’t released any details about the update, but it’s expected that the Roadster will get an upgraded battery pack that could give it a range of up to 400 miles. The second-generation Roadster is expected to arrive in 2017 and may be renamed the Model R.
