Earlier this year Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that Tesla buyers would soon be able to buy a Tesla with Bitcoin. Now it’s official. Musk announced on Twitter on Wednesday that Tesla is now accepting the cryptocurrency. Which means you can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin.

Now when buyers finish building their Tesla, the checkout page now includes a Bitcoin button to use the cryptocurrency to make a deposit. The only caveat is that deposits are not refundable when ordering with Bitcoin. Also as of right now, only buyers in the US will be able to pay with Bitcoin, but Musk does say that buyers outside the US will be able to use the crypto later this year.

“Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin, not converted to fiat currency,” Musk added.

In February Tesla also invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin. Elon Musk has also been very vocal about cryptocurrency in the last few months, which also includes pushing “Dogecoin.” Tesla has not announced if it will start accepting any other crypto.
