Refreshed 2017 Lexus IS gets more safety tech

Following its debut earlier this year in Shanghai, Lexus has unveiled more details about the refreshed 2017 IS, which gets a slightly updated exterior, plus more standard safety technology.

Following its debut earlier this year in Shanghai, Lexus has unveiled more details about the refreshed 2017 IS, which gets a slightly updated exterior, plus more standard safety technology. Last year the IS received updated engines and now the IS gets a more dramatic version of the Lexus spindle grille.

In addition to the new grille, the front of the 2017 IS gets new headlamps, larger air intakes in the front bumper, and a reshaped hood. The IS F Sport’s grille features a unique F-mesh pattern, with jet-black metallic coating that is also used on the functional brake ducts. At the rear, the 2017 IS gets more pronounced “L”-shaped LED light guides that are now triple layered within the taillight housing and new rectangular chrome exhaust tips. Lastly there are two new paint color choices, Caviar and Nightfall Mica.

Inside the updated IS gets new cupholders, a revised climate-control panel, analog clock, and steering wheel switches. The speedometer and tachometer have also bee redesigned and there new interior colors. Buyers can choose between two multimedia systems: a standard Lexus Display Audio (LDA) with a 7-inch screen and 8-speaker audio or the optional navigation system, which features a new 10.3-inch screen.

The 2017 IS is now safer than before thanks to the standard Lexus Safety System+, which includes: Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Intelligent High Beam, High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The 2017 IS will be available in IS 200t, IS 300 AWD, and IS 350 models.
