Porsche has yet to confirm that it’s building a production version of the 911 Speedster concept that it recently showed off at Goodwood, but even when the concept debuted, a production version was expected. Now sources have revealed that it will arrive in 2019.

Autocar has received word from sources that the new 911 Speedster is coming sometime next year and that it will be based on the current 911 GT3. The 911 Speedster will be powered by the same naturally-aspirated 4.0L six-cylinder as the GT3 and it will only be available with a manual transmission. The six-cylinder engine is expected to generate around 500 horsepower.

A source also told Autocar that production of the new 911 Speedster will be limited to only 1,948 units. The new 911 Speedster will be the last version of the current 911, since the next-generation Porsche 911 is just around the corner.
