Porsche has confirmed that the next-generation Porsche 911 will get a plug-in hybrid version. While it won’t be ready when the new 911 (992) arrives later this year, it’s expected to be the most powerful 911 ever.
“The 911 plug-in must be a very strong performing car,” Porsche boss Oliver Blume recently told Autocar. “It will be the most powerful 911 we’ve ever had; 700bhp might be possible.” The plug-in hybrid powertrain will likely mate a turbocharged flat-six to an electric motor. Blume added that drivers will be able to use “a special button for the electric punch.”
We don’t have a official on sale date for the 911 PLug-in Hybrid, but it will likely arrive a couple years after the debut of the new 911, this fall. The next-generation Porsche 911 is expected to debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.
