The 911 GT3 R is powered by a 4.0L flat-six engine that is borrowed from the GT3 RS, but the R gets around 500-hp. That power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seqential 6-speed constant-mesh transmission. The 911 GT3 R also gets upgraded brakes, the front axle gets six-piston aluminum monobloc racing brake calipers combined with ventilated and grooved steel brake discs with a diameter of 380 millimeters. Fitted at the rear axle are four-piston calipers and discs measuring 372 millimeters.

Other updates include a 8.3 centimeter longer wheelbase, which helps improve weight distribution and wheel arch air vents on the front fairings increase downforce at the front axle. The 2 meter wide rear wing also helps improve downforce.
