Mazda has announced the pricing for its newest SUV, the 2023 CX-50. It slots in between the CX-5 and CX-9 in Mazda’s lineup and it starts at $28,025, including destination. The compact CX-50 starts at $900 more than the CX-5.
The CX-50 can be powered by a choice of two 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated version with 187 horsepower, while a more powerful turbocharged version has 256 hp. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. A hybrid version will be added later.
The CX-50 is offered in several trim levels: Base, Select, Preferred, and Preferred Plus. The CX-50 Turbo is only available in three trim levels: Base, Premium and Premium Plus. The pricing for the turbocharged version starts at $37,625, while the top CX-50 Turbo Premium Plus starts at $42,775. A more rugged Meridian Edition with 18-inch wheels, hood graphics and some other additions is coming later.
Mazda hasn’t announced when the CX-50 will arrive at dealerships, but it did recently announce that production has started at its new plant in Alabama.
