Mini Paceman Confirmed for Production

No big surprise here, but it’s official. Mini is going to produce the Paceman concept that is currently being shown off at the Detroit Auto Show. BMW board member Ian Robertson confirmed that the Paceman will be produced:

“I’m thrilled to tell you now, for the very first time, that there will be a seventh member of the MINI family – and we will base it on this concept!”

The Paceman is basically a two door version of the recently introduced Countryman. Although the Paceman has been approved for production it won’t be identical to the concept. Since the Paceman is going to use an existing platform and engines the production version shouldn’t be too far off.
