MINI is bringing a special version of the Countryman Plug-in Hybrid to this year’s New York Auto Show – the Countryman Panamericana Plug-In Hybrid. MINI says that the Countryman Panamericana Plug-In Hybrid has been designed for a long-distance tour from North America to Tierra del Fuego.

To help it tackle the most difficult terrain on its way down to the southernmost tip of South America, the MINI Countryman Panamericana Plug-In Hybrid gets additional headlights, upgraded tires and a roof rack for transporting a spare wheel. Fortunately MINI isn’t just bluffing here, since three MINI Countryman Panamericana Plug-In Hybrid vehicles will tackle the intercontinental route on the world’s longest north-south road link to demonstrate the reliability and long-distance performance of the Plug-In Hybrid drive technology used in the MINI Cooper S Countryman ALL4.

The 224-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain gives the Countryman PHEV the ability to travel up to 25 miles in electric mode.
