It’s been four years since the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT concept debuted in 2017 as a preview of the GT 4-Door. The concept featured an electrified V8, but the production version has yet to get an electrification, but that’s about to change. Mercedes-AMG has released a teaser of the new GT 4-Door plug-in hybrid, which is going to be revealed on September 1.

The GT 4-Door plug-in hybrid is expected to be the most powerful version of the GT. It’s expected to be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It will also get a single electric motor with a 2-speed transmission at the rear axle. It’s rumored to have around 804 horsepower.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain will be powered by a 6.1-kWh battery, but we don’t know yet how much electric range the GT 4-Door PHEV will have.

Mercedes-AMG has not announced what it will be called yet, but the names “GT 73” and “GT 63e” have been rumored.
