Mercedes-Benz is going to unveil the new SLK55 AMG in Frankfurt this fall. The SLK55 AMG will be powered by a version of the 5.5L V8 that powers the CLS63 AMG and E63 AMG models, minus the twin-turbochargers.

The SLK55 AMG will make due with a naturally aspirated 5.5L V8, which had to have the turbochargers removed to fit under the hood of the SLK. One insider also stated, “It also wouldn’t do to have an SLK that’s faster than the SL.”

The 5.5L V8, which weighs 412 pounds, will put out 422 horsepower and 398 lb-ft. of torque in the SLK55 AMG. The engine is expected to get fuel saving features like a cylinder-deactivation system.
