GM is giving the 2012 Chevy Impala a slight refresh to hold it over until the all-new 2014 Impala arrives. GM has yet to officially unveil the 2012 Impala, but we do know that the 2012 Impala is going to be powered by GM’s 3.6L V6. The 3.6L V6 puts out 302 horsepower and 252 lb-ft. of torque, which is far better than the current 3.5L and 3.9L V6 engines.

The E.P.A. also recently certified the 2012 Impala and claims that it will get 30 mpg on the highway. The 2011 model only got 29 mpg on the highway, but did manage to get 19 mpg in the city vs. 18 mpg for the 2012 model. The fuel economy numbers aren’t that different, but at least you don’t have to pay more at the pump for the extra power under the hood.

Stay tuned for GM’s official unveiling of the 2012 Chevy Impala.
