Mercedes is previewing a new AMG version of the GLA crossover with the Concept GLA 45 that debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. The concept is powered by the same turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine as the CLA 45 and with a final output of 360 horsepower.
“With the Concept GLA 45 AMG, we are setting a stake firmly in the ground of the strongly growing market segment of compact SUVs. Our customers – a young target group who set great store by styling, dynamism and independence – can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car. The most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system add up to make the Concept GLA 45 AMG a unique proposition,” stated Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The GLA 45 45 AMG concept’s 2.0L engine is mated to an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. Mercedes says that it will reach 0-62 mph in under five seconds.
Mercedes hasn’t announced when the GLA 45 will enter production.
