Mercedes-Benz is previewing its next coupe at the Shanghai Motor Show with the debut of the Concept GLC Coupe, which is essentially a more coupe-like version of the upcoming GLC crossover. The GLC Concept Coupe takes the styling cues from the recently introduced GLE Coupe, but in a smaller, more compact package.

Mercedes-Benz says that the GLC Concept Coupe is a near-production-standard show car and it’s expected to arrive sometime next year. The GLC Concept Coupe measures 186.2 inches long with 111.4 inches located between the 21-inch wheels. Overall the shape of the GLC Concept Coupe is so close to the larger GLE that you’d probably think they are the same vehicle, well at least in pictures.

The GLC Concept Coupe is powered by a 3.0L biturbo V6 that generates 270 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque. It’s mated to a nine-speed transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive.

Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG, puts it in a nutshell: “With its modern and sensual design idiom, the Concept GLC Coupé gives a foretaste of future SUV models from Mercedes-Benz. At the same time, it embraces the typical values of tradition-steeped Mercedes-Benz coupés.”
