Ford releases a special Taurus for the Chinese market

For the first time ever, Ford is going to bring the Taurus to the Chinese market and today it’s unveiled a new 2016 Taurus at the Shanghai Motor Show. The 2016 Taurus differs from the U.S. Taurus and Ford says that it was designed specifically for the Chinese market.

Borrowing styling cues from other Ford models, like the Fusion, the new Taurus features a shield-like, clipped trapezoidal five-bar grille that is flanked by slender headlamps. The new Taurus also gets LED taillights and 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels.

“We wanted to create a vehicle that displays a maturity of design with balanced and harmonious proportions, tailored to the business customer in China,” said Todd Willing, Asia Pacific Design Director and exterior designer for the Ford Taurus. “Our aim was to create a vehicle that is elegant, inviting and quietly confident.”

Inside the Taurus gets luxury features, like power-reclining rear seats and cup holders that are designed to hold different-sized tea bottles. The new Taurus is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.7L EcoBoost V6.

This specific Taurus isn’t expected to go on sale in the U.S.
