It’s only been a few months since Mercedes-AMG unveiled the four-door GT sedan concept. Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that it reveal the production version of the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT concept in a few months at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, prior to the start of production in mid-2018.

Tobias Moers head of Mercedes-AMG told Motoring that the Mercedes-AMG sedan will debut in January. Although Mercedes-AMG is preparing the debut in a few months, a name for the sedan has reportedly not been decided yet. It for sure won’t be called GT 4.

Moers also confirmed that the “GT sedan” will share most of its parts with the Mercedes-Benz E63, since they will ride on the same platform. Since it will borrow its engine from the E63, we can expect the GT sedan to have at least 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque. There will also be a hybrid version, which will pack even more power.

Although it’s currently being labeled as the “GT sedan” it actually won’t technically be a sedan, since it will have a coupe-like profile with a rear hatchback, similar to the Porsche Panamera and Audi A7. Inside there will be room for up to four passengers.
