Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled its first plug-in hybrid, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. The “E” in the name signifies that this special GT 4-Door is electrified.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and a 204-hp electric motor on the rear axle that generate a combined 831 horsepower and 1,033 pound-feet of torque. Those insane specs mean that it’s also the most powerful Mercedes-AMG ever.

It also has a 6.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack that gives it a short 7.5-mile electric range at speeds up to 81 mph. With that much power on tap, it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in only 2.9 seconds and it can reach 124 mph in under 10 seconds. The GT 63 S E Performance has a top speed of 196 mph.

There’s also a four stage regenerative braking system, which includes the Level 3 setting that allows for one-pedal driving and a “Race” mode that is meant for the track.

Now we have to wait and see how much the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance will cost. Don’t be surprised if it lands somewhere near $200k.
