Two years ago Mazda confirmed plans to offer a diesel-powered version of the Mazda6 in the U.S., but fast forward to today and the Mazda6 diesel has yet to arrive. According to the latest report, the Mazda6 diesel is now still at least a year away.
Truth About Cars is reporting that the Mazda6 diesel was not able to meet U.S. emissions standards, which forced Mazda’s engineers to rework the engine. Unfortunately the changes may have improved the engine’s emissions levels, but at a cost. The final output specs dropped significantly, which are now deemed too low to meet consumer expectations.
