Is Mazda going to reveal a coupe version of the MX-5 this month at the New York Auto Show? Mazda isn’t saying, but the automaker did just drop a big hint, “Help us blow the lid off at the New York Auto Show.”
Mazda recently sent invitations to the automotive press, with the headline, which most likely hints at a new coupe version of the MX-5. Mazda isn’t saying anything else, but it is rumored that the new MX-5 Coupe will feature a lighter retractable hardtop, that will also require less space.

Don’t expect any changes under the hood, which means that even with a lighter retractable top, the MX-5 Coupe will still come in a bit heavier and slower than the standard MX-5.

Stay tuned.
