This news isn’t too surprising, since all Lincoln’s vehicles are share the same DNA as their Ford counterparts, but Lincoln has confirmed that it will build an electric car that’s based on the same platform as the upcoming Mustang-inspired electric SUV.

Kumar Galhotra, Ford’s President of North America confirmed the news to Automotive News. He also stated that even though they two vehicles will share some parts, they will be quite different. The Lincoln EV will continue the brand’s “quiet luxury” theme, while the Ford EV will be a lot more aggressive.

“You can make beautiful vehicles in different ways,” Galhotra stated. “The BEV technology gives us so much freedom to sculpt that vehicle exactly how we want it. We’re going to create elegant Lincoln BEVs.”

We already know that the Ford electric SUV is coming for 2020, but Ford has not announced when the new Lincoln EV will debut.
