Lincoln has previewed the next-generation MKX crossover with a concept version at the Beijing Motor Show. Lincoln says that the MKX Concept hints at the new global SUV, which will be the third of four all-new Lincoln vehicles due by 2016.

Lincoln’s designers sought inspiration from airplanes and motorbikes for the design of the MKX Concept, which it says “evokes feelings of power and agility.” Since Lincoln has announced plans to enter the Chinese market, Lincoln got feedback from research clinics held in China and the U.S. about the final design of the concept.

“Great emphasis was put on the proportions of this concept vehicle,” said Andrea Di Buduo, exterior design manager of the Lincoln MKX Concept. “It’s a very emotional, athletic design. Its horizontal lines and defined undercuts are gracefully integrated and very sophisticated, yet convey a powerful and dynamic presence.”
