Lexus gave us our first high-performance F model in 2008 with the arrival of the IS F. Since then it’s offered F versions of the GS and RC and most recently it introduced the 2022 IS F Sport Performance. Now Lexus has announced that it is expanding the F lineup from F Sport to four tiers: F Sport Design, F Sport Handling, F Sport Performance and F.

2022 Lexus IS 500

The F Sport models are for buyers that want their Lexus vehicle to look a big sportier with unique front and rear bumpers, grille and wheels. The F Sport models are purely aesthetic, since there aren’t any performance upgrades. If you want a sportier driving experience, you’ll want to start with the F Sport Handling models, which get a sport-tuned suspension, including an Adaptive Variable Suspension. The first F Sport Handling models available are the 2022 NX and LX.

Next up is F Sport Performance, which builds on the F Sport Handling by adding upgrades to the powertrain. At the top of the lineup are the F models, which get upgraded brakes, aerodynamic upgrades and lighter materials to reduce weight. Lexus has not announced which new models will be getting the F tier.
