These leaked patent photos may be an early look at Honda’s new sports car, which if they are accurate, show that it will have a mid-engine layout. There have been rumors that Honda is working on at least three mid-engine sports cars and this year alone we’ve seen two of them, the 2016 Acura NSX and the small S660 roadster.

Autovisie was able to get these patent photos, which were registered with the European Patent Organization in May. The car seen in these photos is likely a concept, which is evidenced by its tiny mirrors and small headlights. If the concept follows the same path as the NSX, the production version could be nearly identical.

It’s also reported that the new Honda sports car will be powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder as the Civic Type-R, but it will also get at least one electric motor to make it officially a hybrid.

Stay tuned…
