Kia’s new EV9 three-row electric SUV is slated to arrive by the end of this year, but if that’s too big for you, the good news is that Kia has unveiled a new smaller electric SUV. The Kia EV5 borrows most of its styling cues from the larger EV9, but with a smaller footprint that will make it a rival to the Subaru Solterra, Toyota bZ4X, VW ID.4.

Kia gave us a preview of the EV5 with a concept version, which looks nearly identical to the production version.

Inside the concept’s swiveling seats have been replaced by a more conventional seating set up. We can see that the front seats have what looks like a bench style setup, but it doesn’t look like that middle area is for a passenger, since there isn’t a seatbelt. At the front there are two large screens for the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system.

The EV5 is based on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6, so we expect it to have similar specs, although Kia has not released them. The Kia EV5 is slated to go on sale in China soon, but it will likely arrive in the US for the 2025 model year.
