Last week Kia unveiled the production version of its three-row electric SUV, the EV9 and now we have our first look at its next electric SUV, the EV5. Kia has unveiled what is probably a close to production Concept EV5, which is slated to go on sale in China later this year.

Kia unveiled the Concept EV5 at Kia Chinese EV Day.

“The Kia Concept EV5 takes influence from the contrast and complementarity of natural landscapes and man-made architecture. It is designed to inspire our customers on every journey, while providing sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions. Created for those who seek inventive new ideas, the SUV brings together emotional form language with innovative, user-focused interior architecture,” explained Karim Habib, Executive Vice President, and Head of Kia Global Design Center.

We can see that the EV5 has a lot of the same styling cues as the larger Kia EV9. Kia hasn’t revealed any specs, but it is likely based on the same E-GMP platform as the EV9. Although it’s slated to go on sale in China first, Kia says that “any future plans for the other global markets will be made in due course.”
