Jeep has already confirmed plans to electrify its entire lineup by 2022 and recently it released more details about its first electrified models, the “4xe” plug-in hybrid Renegade and Compass. The 4xe Wrangler plug-in hybrid is also coming soon too, but what about a fully electric Jeep? A report out of Spain is now giving us some early details about Jeep’s first EV.

Periodismo del Motor cites a recent presentation by European Jeep execs, which claims that the first fully electric Jeep will be built at Jeep’s Melfi, Italy plant, which also builds the Compass and Renegade. The report also claims that the EV will not be an electric version of the Compass or Renegade and instead will be a completely new model that will also be smaller than any other Jeep.

It’s been reported that Jeep’s first EV will be about a foot shorter than the Renegade, but it’s not known yet when it will be introduced.
