Jeep Compass and Renegade 4xe Plug-in Hybrids launch in Europe

Jeep has announced the debut of the Compass and Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs in Europe, which are launching with a unique “First Edition”.

The Jeep Compass and Renegade 4xe First Edition models will be available in two versions, the Urban, which is based on the S trim level and the Off-Road, which is based on the Trailhawk models. The Urban trim level gets 19-inch wheels to give the 4xe models a sportier look, while the Off-Road trim level is the more rugged version with unique 17-inch wheels. Both trim levels come standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, park assist, a 7.0-inch TFT display, and a blind spot monitor.

The First Edition models will be powered by a 237 horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain that features a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that powers the front wheels and an electric motor that powers the rear wheels. Jeep estimates that the 4xe plug-in hybrid models will have an electric driving range up to 31 miles in Europe. In the US, that range is likely to be shorter.
