A few months ago Jeep attempted to steal some of the Ford Bronco’s attention with the V8-powered Wrangler 392 concept. Although it was technically labeled as a concept, we all knew that a production version was coming. Now Jeep has officially revealed the first factory-V8 powered Wrangler – the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.

Jeep has officially revealed the first factory-V8 powered Wrangler - the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.

Under the hood the Wrangler Rubicon 392 gets the same naturally-aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi V8 as the concept that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The production version actually has more horsepower than the concept at 470 horsepower, compared to 450 hp in the concept. The torque rating is also up to 470 pound-feet.

Jeep says that the Rubicon 392 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach the quarter-mile in 13 seconds. The 392 also gets paddle shifters, which is a first for the Wrangler, and an active exhaust system.

Just like the concept, the Rubicon 392 has a two-inch lift increase in ride height. The Rubicon 392 also gets upgraded frame rails and upper control arms, Fox shocks, and upgraded brakes. To make it even more capable, there’s a 2.72 low-range gear ratio that enables a 48:1 crawl ratio.

On the outside the Rubicon 392 stands out with its unique hood, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels and bronze badges. Inside the bronze theme continues with unique stitching on the steering wheel and leather seats.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of next year, but Jeep has not announced the pricing.
