Hyundai is now confirming plans to throw its hat in the segment with its own 200-mile range electric car.
This fall the electric car segment is about to get the boost that it needs with the arrival of the 2017 Chevy Bolt with its 200-mile driving range. The Bolt will be followed by other 200 mile range EVs from other automakers, like Tesla and Nissan. Hyundai is now confirming plans to throw its hat in the segment with its own 200-mile range electric car.
Byung Ki Ahn, Hyundai’s director, eco-vehicle performance development group recently confirmed that the automaker is working on a 200-mile range EV that will arrive by 2018, which will then be followed two years later by a 250-mile range EV. The 200-mile range EV will represent a major improvement over Hyundai’s 110-mile range Ioniq electric car, which is slated to arrive later this year.

The new longer range electric vehicles are part of Hyundai’s plans to release 26 new electrified vehicles by 2020.
