There have been rumors about a successor to the Honda S2000 for years and now the latest rumor claims that the successor could get an electrified powertrain that feature a turbocharged engine and two electric motors.
Motoring is reporting that the new S2000 could get a setup that is similar to the new Acura NSX, but instead of a V6 engine being the main power source, the S2000 would get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder would power the rear wheels, while the front wheels will be electrically powered, giving the S2000 all-wheel-drive.

Honda is currently mulling the idea of using the new Civic Type-R’s turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder or Honda’s new turbocharged 1.5L that will also be used in the next-generation Civic. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also reportedly part of the mix.
