Yesterday Honda unveiled the 2022 Civic hatchback, which follows the sedan that went on sale a week ago. We’re also expecting news on the Civic Si soon, since a report claims that it will go on sale in October, a month after the hatchback, which will allegedly arrive in September. Now what about the Civic Type R?

Honda quietly announced that the new Civic Type R will arrive in 2022. We don’t have any other details about the new Type R, but it’s expected that it will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s mated to a six-speed manual. We can likely expect a small power boost, but nothing dramatically different.

In Japan, Honda has confirmed that the Civic will also get a hybrid version in 2022, but that model will not be coming to the US. Honda has confirmed that in the US, the Insight will continue as its compact hybrid.

Stay tuned…
