Genesis unveiled the GV60 electric crossover last week, but we’ll have to wait until sometime in 2022 for it to arrive in the US. When it does, it will reportedly be the first global EV to come equipped with wireless charging hardware. No we are not talking about charging your cell phone, instead the hardware will charge the GV60’s battery wirelessly.

Green Car Reports is reporting that the Genesis GV60 will be equipped with the the hardward from WiTricity and that it will initially be offered in South Korea. The wireless charging tech will be part of a test in South Korea. It hasn’t been confirmed if the technology will be offered in the US or other markets, but it’s highly likely.

Wireless charging technology has been around for a few years, but it’s been added as an aftermarket add on, so this is the first time that the technology will go mainstream. Wireless charging will make it easier for drivers to charge their EVs, since they won’t have to deal with plugging a heavy charge cord into their electric car. BMW has been testing the technology with the 5 Series plug-in hybrid.
