Genesis is giving us a preview of its future with the new Neolun concept, which is debuting this week at the New York Auto Show. Genesis hasn’t confirmed it, but it’s expected that the Neolun concept is a preview of a new electric flagship SUV that will likely be called the GV90.

The name “Neolun” is derived from the Greek “neo,” or new, and the Latin “luna,” which means moon. Genesis also says that the Neolun concept is inspired by Korean moon-shaped porcelain jars. The concept has a more imposing look than the GV80, the brand’s current flagship SUV, with the similar lighting designs that we’ve seen on other Genesis models.

Since the Neolun is elevating the brand to new heights, it’s no surprise to see that it has coach doors and no B-pillar. We could see these doors enter production, since Genesis says that the “development of the B-pillarless coach doors has reached a level where its application to production vehicles is now feasible.”

Inside there are just two rows of seats, but the front seats can swivel so that the passengers in the front can face the rear passengers. A unique radiant heating system adds heating films applied to the dashboard, door trims, floor, seatbacks and console sides.

There’s also a large display that unfolds from the rear-seat headliner. The Neolun Concept’s sound system features an advanced “sound architecture” that features tweeters, midrange speakers, woofers and subwoofers that are optimally placed throughout the cabin.
