This week is the New York Auto Show and to kick off the show, Genesis has unveiled its latest concept, the Genesis GV80 Coupe concept. As its name suggests, the GV80 Coupe is basically a coupe version of the GV80 SUV.

Genesis says that the GV80 Coupe concept “serves as a statement of intent for the future, hinting towards more emotional and performance-oriented models”, but what we see here looks like it’s pretty close to a production version. While the roofline and rear end have been tweaked to give it that “coupe-like” look, Genesis has made some other changes to differentiate it from the regular GV80.

Starting at the front the air intakes are larger with darkened inserts and there are four extra slots underneath the grille. The headlights also look slightly different as well. At the rear there are some big changes with a spoiler and full width taillights that look inspired by the X Speedium Coupe concept that debuted last year.

Inside there’s room for just four passengers that get to ride in sportier bucket seats, a new three-spoke steering wheel and a strut brace behind the bucket seats. Genesis has not announced what’s under the hood.
