On Wednesday, Ford pulled the covers off the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor. While some fans might be disappointed that the new Raptor is only offered with a turbocharged V6, there’s something bigger coming. Ford has confirmed that a new Raptor R is coming in 2022 and that it will have a V8.

This is great news, since the F-150 Raptor will be able to rival the Ram 1500 TRX with its 702 horsepower. Ford has yet to confirm what engine will power the Raptor R, but it will likely be the supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 that generates 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque in the Mustang Shelby GT500.

Ford has also not confirmed the power figures for the 2021 Raptor’s turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, so stay tuned.
