The 2019 Ford Edge ST is getting ready to arrive in showrooms this summer and now Ford is talking more about the upgrades to the sportiest Edge yet. When Ford unveiled the 2019 Edge ST earlier this year, it revealed its 335-hp 2.7 V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission, but now we’re getting more details.

For starters the 2019 Ford Edge ST is powered by a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 that generates 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft. of torque. The V6 is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all that power is sent to all four wheels. Now Ford is telling us about the new Sport mode that dials up the performance even more.

Press the “S” button the gear shift dial and the Edge ST comes to life. First all digital portions of the instrument cluster, which is basically next to the speedometer, turns to a red tachometer with a gear indicator. Then the active noise control pumps in the sounds of the engine to let you know that this isn’t a typical boring crossover. Once the Sport mode is engaged, the electronic throttle response delivers a more responsive feel and the paddle shifters become fully enabled. Lastly the eight-speed automatic transmission also gets more aggressive in the Sport mode by holding the gears longer and rev-matching raises the engine speed.

An available Performance Pack adds red brake calipers and front rotors that have been optimized for performance and cooling. Upgraded front and rear pads also improve the Edge ST’s braking performance.

Ford has yet to reveal the 0-60 mph specs or the price tag for the 2019 Edge ST, but we’ll definitely hear more about it soon.
