Lexus can’t be too happy right now. The first photo of the all-new 2019 Lexus ES has leaked online, giving us an early look at what the new ES will at least look like from the front.
It’s immediately clear that from this single leaked photo, the 2019 Lexus ES will have a face that is similar to the larger LS flagship. The resemblance is pretty close especially when you look at the grille of the 2019 ES, although at least on this version of the ES, it’s grille is a little more toned down.
Under the skin the 2019 Lexus ES will be based on Toyota’s TNGA platform, which is also the basis for the latest Camry and the all-new 2019 Avalon. Lexus hasn’t revealed any details at all about the new ES, so it’s not known what will power the 2019 ES, but a hybrid version is obviously going to be on the options list.
When the next-generation 2019 ES debuts, we’ll likely also get some bad news about the GS, since it was reported last year that the Lexus GS is being discontinued. Most recently it was reported that production of the Lexus GS sedan for European buyers will stop this month, but here in the United States, Lexus has not made any announcements. It’s expected that the next-generation Lexus ES will fill the void left by the GS.
It’s being reported that the 2019 Lexus ES will debut later this month at the Beijing Motor Show.
