A new report claims that Ford is working on a more powerful version of the F-150 Raptor, which will borrow the Mustang GT500‘s 5.2L supercharged V8.
According to Car and Driver, a special version of the F-150 Raptor is coming with the 5.2L V8, which will serve as the official send of the current generation. With over 700 horsepower, the F-150 Raptor would be the perfect rival to the Ram TRX pickup with its Hellcat V8.
If the report is accurate, the F-150 Raptor will get the 5.2L V8 will arrive as early as 2020. The supercharged 5.2L V8 will be offered in the F-150 Raptor for the last one or two years of the current generation F-150.
While this all sounds awesome, the only downside is that you better be prepared to write a bigger check if you want the more powerful F-150 Raptor. The current Raptor starts at $54,450, but with the GT500’s V8 the price tag will likely jump to around $70,000.
