Ford has announced plans to introduce the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ranger models in China as the automaker looks to tap into the China’s growing truck market. The F-150 Raptor is already on sale in China, but starting in 2018, the Ford Ranger will also be available.

“We’re very excited to bring Built Ford Tough, one of the world’s best loved and most successful brands, to customers in the world’s largest auto market,” said Mark Fields, Ford president and CEO. “We see a significant white-space opportunity with Chinese buyers increasingly looking for more capable, more refined and more stylish pickups.”

Today pickup trucks in China only represent two percent of the market, but China is already the fourth largest truck market in the world with 14 percent growth last year. One of the reasons for the growth in China is because the country has starting easing restrictions on pickup usage in city centers.

The F-150 Raptor will only being offered in one version, the four-door SuperCrew model.
