At the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Ford unveiled the Fiesta ST concept, which was a high-performance version of the the three-door Fiesta. Now two months later Ford has unveiled a five-door version that is going to debut at the L.A. Auto Show later this month. Does this mean that Ford is going to release a hot version of the small Fiesta? According to Ford the concept hints at how a future Fiesta ST model might look when it joins the Focus ST in the global small car portfolio.
“The Fiesta has a rich history of high-performance models so a new ST performance model is a logical next step in our performance vehicle strategy for our global small cars,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.
The Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that packs 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Overall the concept we’re going to see in LA is basically the same as the concept we saw two months ago, with the exception of an additional two doors.
