We already know that the supercharged Hellcat V8 that powers models, like the Dodge Challenger and Charger, is about to disappear. Dodge’s high-performance models will be switching to electric powertrains soon, but in the meantime it looks like Dodge is planning one last hurrah for the Challenger.

A new report from Mopar Insiders states that a modified 6.2-liter V8 is in the works that will run on E85 fuel. These updates will give the supercharged Hellcat engine 909 horsepower, although that hp rating is just a rumor. A source told the publication that “it’s not four figures,” and which the editor guessed the 909 hp figure. The source then replied with “bingo” about the guess. If the reports are true, the upcoming version of the Dodge Challenger will be the most powerful production Dodge ever. The standard Challenger Hellcat is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 717 hp and 656 pound-feet of torque, while the Hellcat Redeye has 797 hp and 707 lb-ft. The Challenger SRT Demon still holds the title as the most powerful version with 840 hp, but owners had to fill it up with 100-octane race gas to un tap that much power.
