A few months ago it was reported that General Motors is planning on killing off at least six of its models due to slow sales. That list sadly included the Chevy Volt and now a new report claims that the GM will pull the plug on the Volt in 2022.

According to AutoForecast Solutions and GM Authority, GM is focusing its attention on electric crossovers, which will leave the Voly plug-in hybrid out in the cold. The Volt is expected to be replaced by a plug-in hybrid crossover, which will likely have greater appeal given the fact that new car buyers generally prefer anything with a crossover label these days.

There’s also a chance that the Volt could be replaced by an all-electric crossover, but we’ll have to wait and see. GM has already confirmed plans to introduce at least 20 new electric cars by 2023. Within the next year and a half, GM will introduce two new Chevy Bolt based crossovers.
