Cadillac has pulled the plug on the Cadillac CT6 plug-in hybrid. Cadillac confirmed the news to GM Authority, where it stated that the CT6 plug-in hybrid will not be part of its 2019 model lineup in the US.
With the cancellation of the CT6 plug-in hybrid that means that Cadillac no longer offers any plug-in models, since it killed of the ELR a few years ago as well. But Cadillac says that it will offer new electrified models in the future.
“Cadillac remains committed to electrified systems for our vehicles. Although production of the CT6 Plug-in for North America is discontinuing for the 2019 model year, alternative fuel vehicles remain a part of our future product portfolio as we move deeper in to our 10-year plan. GM has committed to 20 electric vehicles by 2023, some of which will be Cadillacs. Cadillac will also continue to be the spearhead brand for many of the company’s technologies, such as Super Cruise and V2X.”
With a price tag around $80,000 and limited electric range, the CT6 plug-in hybrid appealed to only a small group of buyers, so it’s not too surprising to see it disappear.
