Cadillac has announced that the first batch of 2014 Cadillac ELRs are on their way to dealerships. The 2014 Cadillac ELR starts at $75,995, but that price can drop down to $68,495 after the available tax incentives.
The Cadillac ELR uses the same extended range electric vehicle technology as the Chevy Volt. It has a total driving range of 300 miles, with 35 of those miles being electric-only.
Only time will tell if buyers are willing to pay the significant premium for the Cadillac ELR. With the starting price at $76k, the ELR is in the same price bracket as the Tesla Model S. For most people the Tesla Model S may represent a better value with its over 200 mile EV driving range and four doors.
