It looks like BMW is getting ready to fully expand its range of electric SUVs, since it just trademarked i-Performance names for a long list of upcoming electric SUVs.

According to the reports, BMW recently trademarked the iX1, iX2, iX3, iX4, iX5, iX6, iX7, iX8 and iX9 model names. Based on these trademarks, it’s clear that BMW is planning on introducing an electrified version of each of its SUVs, but it also confirms that BMW is also going to introduce EV versions of future models, like the X7, X8 and X9.

It’s not known yet how much the new electric SUVs will have in common with the standard versions and it’s not known when the new electric SUVs will arrive. Right now BMW has only officially confirmed plans for a fully-electric version of the X3, which is still a few years away.

Also just because BMW trademarked all the new EV names, that doesn’t mean that all of them will be used. Back in 2010 BMW trademarked the i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8 and i9 model names, but almost eight years later, only the i3 and i8 names have been used.
