BMW’s CEO Norbert Reithofer recently revealed that the next-generation 1-Series is going to get the 4-cylinder engine that is a result of the PSA-BMW relationship. The current 4-cylinder is used in the Mini Cooper.
Reithofer recently told German newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung that BMW originally only planned on using the engine that it developed with Peugeot in the Mini, but has now decided to use it in the next-generation 1-Series and possibly other future BMWs. He also revealed that the next-generation 7-Series is going to be offered with a hybrid powertrain.
