BMW Delivers the First i3 in the U.S.

BMW has announced that the first 2014 BMW i3 electric car has been delivered in the U.S. Boston resident and Tufts University professor of practice, Charles Rabie took delivery of his i3 yesterday at the BMW of Boston dealership.

BMW has announced that the first 2014 BMW i3 electric car has been delivered in the U.S. Boston resident and Tufts University professor of practice, Charles Rabie took delivery of his i3 yesterday at the BMW of Boston dealership.
“Today marks a big day at BMW of North America – What started out as a dream for an innovative sustainable vehicle under the BMW i brand can now be found on streets across the U.S.,” said Ludwig Willisch, President & CEO, BMW of North America.

2014 BMW i3

The BMW i3 is the first of the BMW i vehicles and is powered by a 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque hybrid-synchronous electric motor. A 22-kWh lithium-ion battery gives the i3 a driving range of 80-100 miles, while an optional range extender can give the i3 a total range up to 185 miles. The BMW i3 starts at $41,350 and the range-extender model will have a starts at $45,200.
