Although Audi recently introduced its all-new second-generation Q7 SUV, the Q7 will soon not be the top dog in Audi’s SUV lineup. Audi is working on expanding its SUV lineup at both ends and by 2020 the larger Q8 will be released.
Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler recently confirmed to Bloomberg that Audi is “working heavily” on the Q8 that is being designed primarily for markets in the U.S., China and the Middle East. Although Audi is now saying that the Q8 will arrive by 2020, other reports claim that the Q8 will arrive sometime in 2017. The Q8 will be larger than the Q7, but will have a coupe-like profile.

When the Q8 arrives it will go head-to-head with a growing number of larger luxury SUVs, like the BMW X7.
